X-ray Fluorescence Techniques for Element Abundance Analysis in Wine

چکیده

The elemental composition has been extensively used to characterize wine and find correlations with environmental winemaking factors. Although X-ray fluorescence (XRF) techniques offer many advantages, they have rarely for analysis. Here, we show the comparison of results obtained by total reflection (TXRF) energy dispersive (EDXRF) elements K, Ca, Mn, Fe, Cu, Zn, Br, Rb, Sr. TXRF EDXRF additionally verified inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry. important analytical features XRF in science described, preservation volatile (e.g., Br) being one their main advantages. In addition, shown that an optimal approach building large data sets containing highly reliable reproducible abundances wines, corresponding soils, grape juice. Such are especially geographic authentication wine. This 37 Austrian Croatian wines collected together respective soils from selected regions. element soil reflect a portion juice finished suggesting contribution soil, is, plant uptake capacity expressed as ci(wine)/ci(soil) concentration factors, can be discriminating factor fingerprinting. indeed proved present study discrimination based only on abundances. We identified Sr best discriminator geographical opens new perspective extending application cost-effective tool creating databases juice, evaluation characteristics other parameters composition.

Improved micro x-ray fluorescence spectrometer for light element analysis.

Since most available micro x-ray fluorescence (micro-XRF) spectrometers operate in air, which does not allow the analysis of low-Z elements (Z or = 6). It offers improved excitation and detection conditions necessary for light element analysis. To eliminate absorption of the ...

Medical Applications of X-ray Fluorescence for Trace Element Research

Techniques for estimation of element levels directly in humans (non-invasive in vivo) or in samples (in vitro) from humans are reviewed. Toxic, nonessential, trace elements may cause temporary or permanent damage to various organs and tissues in humans. There is thus a need to control the concentrations. Knowledge of the relations between toxic effects and element concentration may be extracted...

Fusion Monitors For X-Ray Fluorescence X Analysis

Modern analytical laboratories require tools to assess uncertainties at every step of the analytical process. Borate fusion combined with X-Ray fluorescence has often been demonstrated to be essential for the determination of major elements in cements, ores and a large number of other matrixes. However, drift and bias contributions from the fusion technique, burner position, fluxer to fluxer, m...

Micro X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer for Light Element Analysis with Low Power Tube Excitation

This system consists of an air cooled low power x-ray tube (50W) with molybdenum anode and a thin (70μm) exit window. An optional beam filter can be inserted to reduce spectral background. The beam is focused onto the sample using a polycapillary x-ray optics, offering a focal spot of about 30μm FWHM. Characteristic X-rays from the sample are detected by means of a Si(Li) detector with ultra th...

X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis of Gemstones

The energy dispersive X-ray fluorescence analysis (ED-XRFA) is a well-established tool for multielement composition analysis in different fields/1/. It works non-conducting and it is non-destructive. No particular sample preparation is necessary if the specimens have an almost planar and smooth surface. For the characterization of precious gemstone material it is also important that the deposit...
